Fibaeurope.com just reported that CSKA Moscow coach and Italian coaching great Ettore Messina admitted to an Italian newspaper that he turned down an offer from the French basketball federation to coach the France national team.
Messina, who coached the Italian national team from 1993 to 1997, said in the La Stampa article he would never be a traitor against his country since Italy will face France in the Additional Qualifying Tournament for the 2009 EuroBasket in Poland.
