The NFL season is running down to the play-offs but there are still some real top-notch showdowns on the schedule.
Starting with a real battle in the NFC between the NFC South leading Carolina Panthers and the NFC East New York Giants in East Rutherford, N.J. This could be a preview of the NFC Championship Game. The Giants dropped their last two games within the NFC East against Philadelphia and at Dallas. And this game could decide home field advantage throughout the play-offs.
The Giants’ struggles have been mainly due to running back Brandon Jacobs being banged up with knee problems. And left tackle Kareem McKenzie is also questionable, meaning Eli Manning may not have the needed protection. Even if Jacobs does not play, the Giants will find a way to grab a victory over Carolina.
Another great showdown has the 11-3 Pittsburgh Steelers playing at the 12-2 Tennessee Titans. The AFC top spot is up for grabs in this encounter. But Tennessee will be without Pro Bowl defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. And mainly because of that, the Steelers beat Tennessee for yet another victory against a tough opponent.
In college basketball on Saturday, No. 2 Connecticut faces off against No. 7 Gonzaga. This will be a fun showdown but I think the tough Connecticut will have enough defense to hold off Gonzaga.
The Spanish basketball league has two nice match-ups with Barcelona hosting Real Madrid and DKV Joventut heading to Pamesa Valencia.
