Hey there, I want to apologize for taking so long between columns.  I had to buckle down with basketball and try and get a few wins.  Plus, I was having so much fun with my family being over here.  My daughter is taking up all my time off the court.  The joys of fatherhood.

First off, I would like to give a shout out to DeJuan Blair from Pittsburgh who attends the University of Pittsburgh.  I already gave him love when Pitt was #1 in the country a few weeks back.  For those who don’t remember, let me give him another shout out.  I have never met DeJuan but I hope to one day soon.  It’s always nice seeing a hometown native stay close to home and do things for the university that have never been done before.  Pitt reaching the No. 1spot twice in the same season, amazing.  The negative is that they lost the very next game both times they reached No. 1.  Back to DeJaun, he is a very good player with so much potential.  He is a sure-fire NBA draft pick whenever he decides to leave school.  I foresee him having a bright future in the NBA.  He plays so hard and with a joy for the game that is unmatched for most players on the collegiate level.  Keep ballin’ DeJuan and take Pitt to the Final Four big fella.  First, another Big East championship would be nice.

To answer my question from the last column.  I would definitely take Magic Johnson.  Magic is a winner plain and simple.  He had won championships on every level of basketball by the time he was 24 years old.  He had won a high school state title, a college NCAA championship, and 2 NBA titles by the age of 24.  That is special.  From your responses, many of you agree with me.

Believe me when I say, no top seed wants to play the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the NBA playoffs.  They are playing well without Allen Iverson and starting to look like the Pistons of old.  When AI comes back, if he is willing to come off the bench and be a scoring machine reminiscent of the “Microwave” Vinnie Johnson of the old Pistons, watch out, Detroit could shake up the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The classic battle that LeBron James and Dwayne Wade put on this week was classic.  It was two superstars leading their teams and taking on every challenge that was put in front of them.  LeBron got the win but D. Wade didn’t go out quietly.  D. Wade has been great this season and LeBron right now is the NBA MVP.  I am excited to see how high these two great players can elevate their game throughout their careers.

It’s almost NCAA tournament time.  Who is going to be the Stephen Curry of this year’s tournament?
