Don’t look now but Yves Pons has missed more than another month with an injury. The tantalizing 1999-born French talent has not played since February 11 as he is nursing an ankle injury.

This is just the latest setback for Pons, who missed nearly the entire three months of action prior to the ANGT Kaunas with a knee injury, which also kept him out of the FIBA U18 European Championship 2016 in December.

“It feels great (to be playing again) but I am still a little bit injured,” Pons admitted to heinnews after CFBB’s last group game against Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt.

Pons showcased some of his amazing athleticism in Kaunas where he averaged 8.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.3 blocks at the ANGT, which ran from January 12-14.

Of course, basketball fans are hoping Pons can return to the court as soon as possible – and that he stays on the hardwood. CFBB have been awarded a wild card for the ANGT Finals in Istanbul, where it would be great to see Pons do his magic in mid-May. There is also the summer of national team play with both the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup and FIBA U18 European Championship as possibilities for Pons to play.

Tennessee men’s basketball fans are also watching Pons’ health as he has committed to join the Vols program starting in the fall. But with a few injuries of the past couple of years, one might need to start wonder just how reliable his body is.

Yves, get well soon … we all want to see you on the court.
